Hanuman is a Heretic God in the world of Campione. In the Rāmāyaṇa, he is portrayed as a loyal and wise ally of the "King of the End," Rama.
Appearance[]
Hanuman looks like a humanoid monkey with white fur. He is usually wrapped in clothing so as to help disguise his appearance, and keep his master, Rama's, identity secret.
Personality[]
Hanuman is a very brave and honorable warrior, and very devoted to his master, Rama.
Summary[]
Summoned by Artio, he appeared in Gaul in the year 406 A.D and fought a fierce battle against Doni, but vanished after the king was defeated. He appears before Godou while the latter is fighting the King but does not interfere after being struck by an arrow from Artemis.
In the present day, he appears at the invitation of Pallas Athena, and in Japan, he leaves Godou in charge of keeping him company while he travels to the floating island where the "Last King" rests and revives the king after 1,000 years. When the Master's true identity is revealed, his own identity is also unveiled, and he engages in a fierce hand-to-hand battle with the Master's leader, Luo Hao, at the Haneda docks.
However, when he realizes that the Master has been defeated, he retreats and recovers the Divine Sword of Salvation, which the Master had left behind. After that, he waits in the mountains of Mount Kumotori but suddenly encounters the God Slayers who appeared from a "corridor" that opened before his eyes. He ends up fighting Smith, who had transformed into a gigantic demonic bird, but is absorbed by the newly opened Celestial Corridor and sent 12,000 years back in time. He endures the harsh journey through time and somehow manages to return to the present.
He appears in the Astral World carrying the Divine Sword of Salvation, which contains Lakshmana, and engages in combat with Godou, the victor of the Demon King’s Civil War, but is able to escape when Godou is teleported with the help of Alice. Later, in order not to interfere in Rama's battle, he challenges Godou to a fight first and traps the materialized Lancelot within a tornado, but Godou and the Boar's charge send him to the moon, leaving a hole in his body, and he disappears. Godou believes that having endured the time-travel journey to the super-ancient era in hibernation had worn down his identity and fighting spirit, leaving him severely weakened and unable to make a final effort—this being the reason for his defeat.
Powers & Abilities[]
Wind: Hanuman is the son of the wind god Vayu. As a deity who combines the authority of wind with the power of "Steel," he can summon and control divine winds. His body becomes wind itself, which he can manipulate as if it were tangible, and he can fly using divine speed. He is capable of turning into a tornado that struck the Boar twice in a row. He is unaffected by gravity to a certain extent and can even resist the gravitational pull of Authorities. He can summon gusts and currents of wind. His wind absorbs thermal and light energy if necessary.
Steel Body: Having been granted the right by the gods to decide the time of his own death, he is extremely tenacious. Not only does he possess a steel body as part of his "Steel" immortality, but he can also survive even when his body is cut in half. This mentioned ability to nullify attacks through sheer tenacity is also a form of immortality.
Godspeed: Hanuman is a user of this ability, meaning the world slows down for him while he accelerates, thereby reaching speeds close to or comparable with the speed of light.
He is capable of creating the illusion of 12 arms and 12 swords when attacking.
Mandala: As Rama’s ally and a general serving under the monkey king Sugriva, he has the ability to deploy a mandala on his back—about 18 meters wide—and summon an army of a thousand monkeys equipped with armor, swords, and spears. These monkeys march on strong winds and take flight.
Size Manipulation: He is also proficient in supernatural powers and has the ability to grow to gigantic sizes, becoming as large as Smith’s bird form. He can grow as tall as mountains like Sun Wukong.
Sword: Although his specialty lies in martial arts, Hanuman still uses swords in battle, mainly to conceal his identity. He wields a sword nearly as tall as himself. He is capable of summoning swords.
Martial Arts: He is a master of martial arts. Although he occasionally uses large swords, he is more skilled in the Indian martial art that utilizes his steel limbs and strength sufficient to tear mountains apart. He fights with the eccentricity and speed of a monkey, using repeated leaps and aerial techniques. His strikes are so powerful they exert pressure on Luo Hao. His skill rivals that of Salvatore Doni.
Search: He possesses excellent tracking skills, as demonstrated by the legend in which he found Sita, who had been kidnapped by Ravana.
Trivia[]
- It is suggested that the legend of Hanuman might have spawned the legend of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, given their similarities.
- His name is similiar to an Indian god.
