Perseus is a Heretic God in the series Campione.
Appearance[]
Perseus has the appearance of a handsome young man wearing white clothing, including a cloak, which is from another time period.
Personality[]
Perseus has a personality of self-proclaimed self-righteousness, and (like all gods), he is also arrogant. He has a cheerful and flamboyant personality and cares deeply about appearances, demanding that his enemies and others behave appropriately. As the absolute protagonist of his own mythology, he seeks attention.
History[]
He is a hero from the Age of the Gods known as "The One Who Came from the East," and one of the Steel Gods, who could be considered the epitome of a hero who slays dragons and serpents. Perseus, as an ancient Greek hero, was the one who, with the protection of the goddess Athena, defeated the serpent-monster Medusa, won the battle against the beast, and rescued the Ethiopian princess Andromeda, who was being offered as a sacrifice. He has roots in Marduk, the storm god-king of Babylonian mythology who defeated the sea monster Tiamat, but this god is not the actual "Perseus of Greek mythology." His true identity is that of a hero-god who emerged in Roman mythology by combining three deities into one: Helios (the "Sun") from Greek mythology, who was "the one who comes from the East" and the "sun god"; Mithra from Persia; and Perseus. He was worshipped by a Roman emperor in the early 3rd century when the Roman Empire was still polytheistic. His true name is little known even in modern Europe because his high priest, the emperor, was assassinated after only four years of reign and the deity fell into disuse. However, as a great god who once came close to becoming the king of the gods, he has many titles, such as "Sol Invictus" (The Unconquered Sun) and "Heliogabalus." “Perseus (The One Who Came from the East)” is just one of them, but this name continues to be used because it is better known in modern times.
When Doni destroyed the Heraion, a dragon was born from the water and earth spirit that overflowed from it, which stimulated his dragon (serpent) hunter nature, causing him to emerge from Mount Vesuvius in Naples.

Powers and Abilities[]
Perseus, Marduk or Mitra, is a well-known Persian god and Greek hero. He is part of the group of Steel Gods and possesses attributes related to slaying dragons and serpents, making him an enemy of earth goddesses.
Arch and Arrows: He is an expert in the use of bow and arrow, capable of firing arrows in rapid succession from a quiver filled with an infinite number of arrows, with mechanical speed and precision. He can imbue his arrows with the power of Mitra, shooting explosive arrows that create shockwaves, which scatter into multiple points of light that can multiply. These solar-energy arrows cause numbness and immobilize the area they strike.
Sword: He wields a thick-bladed sword with a curved body and a blade over one meter long. He uses simple sword techniques that allow him to move faster than his opponents and manipulate the sword with great speed. No specific powers are shown for it. He easily defeated Heraion with it.
Words of Power That Kill the Serpent and the Dragon: As a “Perseus” hero, he gained the power to slay serpents after defeating Medusa. This allows him to use words of power that nullify and seal the abilities of gods associated with snakes, disperse darkness, and even suppress the powers of earth goddesses. Using this power requires a large amount of energy.
Pegasus: As “Perseus,” he can command the divine beast Pegasus, born from Medusa’s blood, to fly through the sky. It is capable of achieving Divine Speed, comparable to Sun Wukong’s Flying Nimbus before activating its full Divine Speed.
Solar Halo: The halo that radiates from the ring of light, the mark of the sun god, is imbued with Mitra’s divine power. This power can seal, counter, and nullify solar Authorities that are inferior to his status as a sun god, as well as gods who are aspects or subordinates of Mitra in myth, such as Verethragna, the eastern god of war. Additionally, as a form of immortality derived from the “sun,” he has the ability to transform his body into light to avoid fatal damage. However, this consumes a large amount of divine power and cannot be used repeatedly.
Control Over Witches and Priestesses: Because his other identity, Marduk, successfully defeated an earth mother goddess (Tiamat/Andromeda) and forced her into submission in mythology, he has power over humans through his heroic authority. As Marduk, he has the ability to compel women of priestess lineage (witches, hime-miko, etc.) to submit to him. In legends, priestesses serve victorious heroes, which is why Perseus can control their minds—though this ability can be overcome by strong willpower.
Presence: Perseus also possesses a divine presence worthy of a hero, causing everyone around him to admire his image and want to follow him.
Lightning Form: Perseus can transform into lightning and move in that form.
Trivia[]
- In the original myths, Perseus never rode the winged horse Pegasus. That was the hero Bellerophon.
- Pegasus was born from Medusa's body after Perseus cut off her head and was the child of Medusa and Poseidon.
- Pegasus had a twin brother named Chryasor who also was born from the remains of their mother.
- In the Renaissance, European painters and poets replaced Bellerophon with Perseus, a more familiar culture hero, as the tamer and rider of Pegasus.
- The 1981 movie Clash of the Titans, as well as the 2010 remake portrayed Perseus riding Pegasus.
- Pegasus was born from Medusa's body after Perseus cut off her head and was the child of Medusa and Poseidon.
- In the Light Novels, Salvatore Doni killed Perseus, while Athena/Metis killed him in the anime.
- Perseus is only an alias or aspect of the many gods composing him, his true name is Sol Invictus (the "Unconquered Sun"), the official Sun God of the later Roman Empire.
