Rama (aka King Who Manifests at the World's End) is a Heretic God in Campione! He is a powerful God of Steel and the one who is destined to wipe out the Campiones.
Summary[]
More commonly known by his title, the King Who Manifests at the World's End, Rama is an unseen figure who, while never taking part in the modern era, at least until recently, has had an effect on the world of Campione!
Personality[]
From the references made by those associated with him, the King of the End seems to have started off, as did most other Heretic Gods, longing for battle. Over time, however, he grew tired of fighting to the point of going to sleep for over a thousand years. Comments later in the series seem to indicate that he himself wishes to remain asleep.
Even when summoned, for some reason, the King of the End chooses to hide his true identity, preventing his name from being heard by others.
The King of the End seems much calmer, collected, and personable than most Heretic Gods, even in the midst of battle. He finds his nature, being forced to fight those he has no quarrel with or doesn't hate, to be a horrible curse. He suspects that this is because his myth specifically mentions how he assumed human form, so he is less affected by the Heretic God's curse of madness.
Appearance[]
The King of the End has been revealed to have long, deathly white (later blue) hair, a handsome face, tall and trained build wearing a blue tunic, pants, and a white cape.
History[]
Birth[]
Rama was born on the ninth day of the lunar month Chaitra (March–April), a day celebrated across India as Ram Navami. This coincides with one of the four Navaratri on the Hindu calendar, in the spring season, namely the Vasantha Navaratri.
The ancient epic Ramayana states in the Balakhanda that Rama and his brothers were born to Kaushalya and Dasharatha in Ayodhya, a city on the banks of the Sarayu River. The Jain versions of the Ramayana, such as the Paumacariya (literally deeds of Padma) by Vimalasuri, also mention the details of the early life of Rama.
Dasharatha was the king of Kosala and a part of the solar dynasty of Iksvakus. His mother's name Kaushalya, literally implies that she was from Kosala.
Exile and war[]
Rama heads outside the Kosala kingdom, crosses the Yamuna river, and initially stays at Chitrakuta, on the banks of river Mandakini, in the hermitage of sage Vasishtha. During the exile, Rama meets one of his devotees, Shabari who happens to love him so much that when Rama asks for something to eat she offers her ber, a fruit. But every time she gave it to him she first tasted it to ensure, it was sweet and tasty. Such was the level of her devotion. Rama also understood her devotion and ate all the half-eaten bers given by her. Such was the reciprocation of love and compassion he had for his people. Rama roamed through forests, lived a humble simple life, and provided protection and relief to ascetics in the forest being harassed and persecuted by demons, as they stayed at different ashrams. After ten years of wandering and struggles, Rama arrives at Panchavati, on the banks of river Godavari. This region had numerous demons (rakshashas). One day, a demoness called Shurpanakha saw Rama, became enamored of him, and tried to seduce him. Rama refused her. Shurpanakha retaliated by threatening Sita. Lakshmana, the younger brother protective of his family, in turn, retaliated by cutting off the nose and ears of Shurpanakha. The cycle of violence escalated, ultimately reaching demon king Ravana, who was the brother of Shurpanakha. Ravana comes to Panchavati to take revenge on behalf of his family, sees Sita, gets attracted, and kidnaps her to his kingdom of Lanka. Rama and Lakshmana discover the kidnapping, worry about Sita's safety, despair at the loss, and their lack of resources to take on Ravana. Their struggles now reach new heights. They travel south, meet Sugriva, marshall an army of monkeys, and attract dedicated commanders such as Hanuman who was a minister of Sugriva. Meanwhile, Ravana harasses Sita to be his wife, queen, or goddess. Sita refuses him. Ravana gets enraged and ultimately reaches Lanka, fights in a war that has many ups and downs, but ultimately Rama prevails, kills Ravana and forces of evil, and rescues his wife Sita. They return to Ayodhya.
Post-war rule[]
During the Bronze Age, a Campione known as the God Slayer With Ten Lives ruled over the land. To stop him, local priests summoned a Heretic God to fight and slay him; Rama. Rama and the Devil King With Ten Lives fought for quite some time. Eventually, Sita, Rama's wife and an Earth Mother Goddess, was summoned as a sacrifice in order to empower Rama. She was captured by the Devil King, who decided to keep her as a prisoner instead of killing her. Eventually, the two fought in a great battle, and Rama's brother, Laksmana, also a Heretic God, secretly fired an arrow that destroyed the Devil King's home, killing the goddess, and infusing her power into Rama. This awoke the full power of Rama, and the battle destroyed both their forces. Once again the two fought, but this time, Rama on a Vimana, the Campione in the form of a dragon. This time, they slew each other as Sita had turned some of her power against Rama. But Rama eventually recovered and set out to slay the other Campione of the era.
Eventually, he gathered together other Heretic Gods who followed his banner. Among them were the monkey god Hanuman, who was one of his allies in their myths, one of the queens of the Amazons, a Goddess of Steel, who eventually took upon herself the identity of Lancelot, his brother, Laksmana, and the Earth Goddess Gweynhefar who eventually became the Divine Ancestor Guinevere. When the King of the End was summoned, he would always manifest extremely weakened, with most of his power drained, and would be forced to go on a quest to regain it. To aid him, the Earth Goddess created the Holy Grail, so that it would feed the King, granting him power from the beginning.
At some point, after countless battles, the King of the End grew tired and went into a deep sleep in a hidden location. A sleep that has lasted for centuries.
An attempt by Guinevere to find and revive the King of the End caused the legends of King Arthur to begin, eventually giving rise to Arthur as a separate Heretic God when she was slain before she could finish the process of awakening him.
For most of the series, Rama went by the title of "King Who Manifests at the World's End", usually shortened to King of the End.
Plot[]
Light Novel (Spoilers)[]
Volume 15:[]
In response to the intrusion of the 21st-century godslayers into 5th-century Gaul, the King of the End gets awoken by Artio 52 years too early, beginning his quest to vanquish all Devil Kings and initiating an early end to the era. Artio mentioned his name after summoning him, but he prevented it from being heard by a rumble of thunder. Artio gave her son's name to the King of the End, and she called him Artos and then asked her wish for Artos, to exterminate all the godslayers in that era. Following an intense battle with the godslayers in which Kusanagi Godou managed to seize victory from him, the King of the End was forced back into sword form, and his ally, the unknown wind god, retreated upon seeing that. The King of the End made a final appearance at the end of the novel before retreating to heal injuries while silently awaiting the time of resurrection.
Volume 17:[]
Through a stratagem of Athenea, the tomb of Prince Rama was located in Earth orbit over the bay of Japan, using the steel medallion he invoked three previously defeated heroes, and thanks to this, Prince Rama was awakened by three steel gods (Lancelot, Perseus / MITRA, Sun wukong). Once awakened, the divine ancestor performed a ritual to invoke him on the planet and be able to face him as revenge for taking his divine energy.
After hearing Athena's motives, Rama decides to face her without the use of the divine sword in order to make it a fair fight. Athenea released the seal of dragons and managed to petrify the lower body of the King of the End.
Pallas Athena didn't hold back well. Bluish-white flames spewed out from between Medusa's lips, flowing towards the hero who had half his body turned to stone.
Having taken the form of flames, Pallas Athena was producing a serpentine dragon with the same firepower compared to the fiery breath of a dragon.
Burned by the fire, the "King of the End" screamed in pain. However, ten orbs of white lights suddenly appeared in their surroundings and they desperately tried to reduce the temperature of the flames. Like the power to protect him, this was the protection of the spirits.
During this strange battle to the death, Pallas Athena laughed heartily.
Meanwhile, the "King of the End" made a slightly wry smile, while it endured the mighty flames. Instead of the two sides giving up the fight, this was a sign that they were reaching some kind of mental connection at this moment, a weak voice was suddenly heard. A flickering shadow suddenly appeared next to the divine sword that was floating in the air tens of meters high, and then it began to contract and turn, calling out the "King of the End" at the same time. (My revered brother, I am the saving king who manifests himself at the end of the ages. The king of kings. The great hero with the noblest of destinies. A tiger among men. Your glorious achievements have infinite splendor. A supreme hero. Awarded to those with the greatest blessings from the myriad gods!) Hearing these extraordinarily flowery words of praise, the "King of the End" was shocked.
Looking up from the blue flames, he was looking directly at the divine sword of salvation floating in the air above. At the same time, the shadow in the air that had called him "revered brother" was also slowly changing in shape. The lower part of the body remained like a shadow spinning like a whirlwind, while only the upper part of the body became a light-haired aristocrat - His face was identical to that of the "King of the End". However, unlike his older brother's pale complexion, his brown skin looked like it had been tanned in the sun. The dark-skinned divine aristocrat, being one with the shadows, issued a long howl. (Goddess of the mere earth, how dare you continue to humiliate my noble brother. Let me help my brother in an act of impertinence!) "Stop! With my position as older brother, I forbid you to act. Don't interfere!" However, the "King of the End" burning in blue flames, was not heard. Floating in the air, the "younger brother" reached for the divine sword of salvation with his right hand. Just as he was about to grab the hilt, Pallas Athena stopped him. With the blazing flames coming from his mouth, he emitted red light from his eyes. As he took this look, the "younger brother" was devoured by flames just like the "King of the End". "A mere subordinate god, do you dare to interrupt one's enjoyment of battle? Unbearable foolishness!" Burned by the blue divine punishment, the younger brother screamed. Pallas Athena took one look at his pained demeanor and muttered with a bored face. Pallas Athena used a power corresponding to the spirit vision of the mikos in the human realm. The conflagration of anger instantly burned the "little brother" to ashes. No bone was left behind around the divine sword floating in midair. Only the burned ash scattered everywhere. However - this ash continued to be active.
The deep laughter of the "younger brother" could be heard from the ash resulting from the wrathful conflagration. (I was born from the shadow of my brother - revered as the strongest steel. Even if it is only a small part, I possess the trait of indestructible resistance. Watch carefully!) As he roared loudly, the ash took the form of a human arm. He then grabbed the hilt of the divine sword and pulled the sword out of the sheath in one go. An instant later, platinum-colored light thoroughly illuminated the entire surroundings. Thanks to this, Rama defeated Athenea. Pallas Athena was bleeding profusely. There were cuts on various parts of his Gorgon body - with hundreds of locations. Each wound was dark red with blood flowing nonstop. The ground where she was lying had been stained with an ominous shade of red. The "King of the End" was standing on the side alone. Looking down at the falling Pallas Athena sadly, she shook her head with besieged thoughts. However, the goddess remained motionless and collapsed on the ground while bleeding profusely. What had happened? As Godou felt surprised, the "King of the End" turned his head back. He looked at Godou in surprise, but soon regained his consciousness.
When observing Godou he recognizes them and understands that he and two other campiones traveled in time. Meanwhile, Pallas Athena had turned back into her girl form. The innumerable bleeding wounds carved into the Gorgon's body were gone, but on the contrary - A large hole had opened in her chest. The location of the hole was precisely that of the heart. Without a doubt, it was a mortal wound. There was no more bleeding. Instead, a magical power was pouring out. The great volume of magical power was surging to another as a source of a spring, beginning to flow out of Pallas Athena's entire body. Magic power normally lacked a definite color. It was colorless. But at this moment, the magical power that flowed from Pallas Athena's body glowed goldenly. This golden magic power soared into the sky, high up like a diffusion of gas, turning the Minamibousou sky to gold. Under the sky, it was colored by a golden dawn. Meanwhile, the "King of the End" was standing silently, some distance away. The divine sword of salvation was stabbed upright on the ground in front of him. Illuminated by the brilliance of the holy blade, she was looking at Godou and Pallas Athena with eyes of determination. However, a slight weariness and disgust could be seen in the hero's gaze.
Powers & Abilities[]
The King of the End is an immensely powerful God of Steel known by such titles as "the strongest steel" and is classified as the one destined to wipe out all godslayers. Although most of his abilities can only be used when he has absorbed enough essence of the earth, he does have the following many authorities and skills. He was able to hold on his own against all Campiones, even when several came on him at once including Luo Hao and Doni who are most skilled in melee combat.
Authorities[]
Steel Body: Grants incredible resistance to physical attacks more than capable of withstanding attacks with all the power of the goddess Lancelot, explosions (like his own sword), or the blows of Campione Luo Hao.
- Invulnerability: This authority turns Rama's body into a walking steel fortress. The invulnerable body can handle extreme physical conditions such as a vacuum of space or the flame generated by Divine Sword of Salvation. Rama can also increase the durability of his body by increasing his weight, it doesn't matter how heavy he is, the authority allows him to move like normal. Rama sometimes exploits this aspect of his authority to grant him a pseudo-superhuman strength, causing his sword to kill normal humans and Campiones without magic defenses in one hit.
- Immortality: Rama will not die when he activates this power, he doesn't require any sustenance like food, water, or even air. When he is injured, the steel body immediately seals the wound and preserves his life despite several of his internal organs being completely destroyed.
Arrowhead Album: Authority stored within arrowhead-shaped medallions, which allows him to capture the essence of his fallen relatives, ie other "Gods of Steel" and resurrect them later as 'weapons' in the battle to replace swords and arrows as the nature of "gods of steel" was originally that of sword gods.
Absorption of the vital energy of the earth: With this authority, he can absorb vast amounts of magical power from the earth in order to strengthen himself. However, in return, the land he has consumed is left a desert wasteland, the massive rise in temperature in the area causing an acceleration of global warming.
"The great ritual of the Old Covenant". His most powerful authority. The King of the End is able to invoke a pact similar to that used by Sun Wukong during his battle against Kusanagi Godou in order to gain amazing power. The condition for Sun Wukong seemed to be facing multiple godslayers and praying to the star of the sword god of fate that kills Râkshasas, described as an imitation of the King of End. The condition for Rama is said to be the death of a deity whose name is related to the covenant under the influence of a demon king, allowing him to exercise this power as the executor of the old covenant. With this enabled authority, his power is multiplied to match the combined power of all currently live Campione.
Abilities[]
Mind's Eye: With this skill his senses are increased to the maximum level allowing him to predict the movements of their opponents, track beings with divine speed, predict their attacks, and block them. It also allows him to detect hidden enemies or their approximate location, apparently is this ability that is used to locate Campione around the world.
Control of spirits: With this ability, the spirits present in nature will serve him, performing such tasks as decreasing the force of a fall or strengthening his powers.
Armed combatant expert: Rama is proficient with all the divine weapons he possesses, and he is able to handle them with a supreme level of skill, rendering him nigh unbeatable, even when facing large numbers of opponents.
Weapons[]
He wields the Divine Sword of Salvation as his main weapon, which has the following powers: • White Star: Creates a white star that resembles a mini-sun that can launch deadly projectiles that seem to have a light nature. The destructive power of these missiles resembles the impact of small meteors. The same white star can be used in a similar manner to Godou's sun-based White Stallion authority, though with far greater power. Its limits are unknown however it has proven able to easily destroy mountains and level large tracts of land the size of a city. It has the ability to poison Devil Kings which manages to survive being hit by its missiles and prevents them from using their immense magical power. Thus blocking their ability to use authorities for some time.
• Divine lightning of salvation: This powerful ray is generated from the blows of his sword or in the form of rays falling steadily from heaven, these rays also possess the ability to poison Devil Kings, A Campione without a steel body authority will not be able to withstand two consecutive blows of this ray and dodging this Authority requires a divine speed authority. As a side effect of this power, each stroke of his sword radiates massive heat waves that devastate vegetation, wildlife, and any structures within five kilometers.
Its true form is the Divine Sword Mandala, which allows him to call every single weapon from his arsenal, which according to his myth are gifts from various gods of the Chinese, Hindu, Persian, and Buddhist mythologies. It is unknown if he has also received weapons from other mythologies.
Among these are the following: Arrow of Lord Shiva: this divine arrow is capable of generating powerful blasts of energy that destroy everything in its path, Godou estimates that it has the power to destroy a city like Tokyo in one fell swoop. According to myth, this arrow is able to kill a Demon King in one strike.
Arrow of Indra: This arrow has the power of lightning and can devastate areas the size of a city or destroy a mountain.
Arrow of Mithras: This arrow has the ability to restrict the authorities of the god Mithra or his subordinates.
Arrow of Hou Yi (false): A copy of the arrow used by a legendary Chinese hero who shot down nine suns, the first black arrow bow with enough destructive power to destroy a mountain range and even an entire prefecture of Japan. Its power is so great that the monkey god Sun Wukong prefers to escape being caught in the explosion.
Arrow of Hou Yi (true): The true Chinese hero arrow. This bow and arrows have the power to override the authorities based on the sun. In addition, Rama used this bow to shoot his other arrows.
The Divine sword also represents the immortality of the King of the End and allows him to resurrect countless times on the earth, as long as the divine sword remains. He can also disassemble his body to recover from fatigue and damage from battle. During this time his body is assimilated with the ground to absorb its essence for long periods of time while his spirit remains existent in the marking of the earth's sword. However, several conditions must be met for the hero to manifest such power such as the existence of multiple godslayers on the ground indicating the end of time and it requires a great deal of the essence of the earth to perform the ritual.
Steel arch: His second symbol of "god of steel". This weapon of his myth represents his dominion over different weapons (usually arrows gift from other gods). In his myth, he could only use the bow for his great strength.
Vehicles:
Vimana: His third symbol of "god of steel" vehicle that resembles the mythological flying cars. This carriage allows him to fly, move at divine speed, and travel in outer space (the maximum distance he can cover in space is unknown).
Pushpaka Vimana: The most powerful manifestation of Vimana, which calls for a vimana the size of a small town, which has a powerful weapon that throws lightning. This magnificent carriage was a gift from the Hindu god of treasures.
Trivia[]
- Rama is not the only "King of the End", the parallel worlds have their own "king of the End".
- The god of destiny and responsible for electing God bearer of the Sword of Divine Salvation, who also receives the title of King of the End.
- King of the End Mithras is the only known King of the End beyond Rama. In addition to killing Godslayer, King of the End Mithras also killed all the heretic gods he encountered to prevent the birth of Godslayer.
- It has been stated by Susanoo that the "King Who Manifests at the World's End" has a "lazybones" nature.
- The location where the King of the End is sealed appears to be in orbit around the Earth. (this is checked in volume 17)
- The King of the End seems drawn to locations where several powerful beings are causing problems, and he either slays or drives them away to restore peace.
- Whether the peace is the intention, or he's simply drawn to large gatherings of powerful enemies for him to face is unknown.
- The King of the End gets his title from the fact he shows up at the end of the eras.
- It is unknown if the era ends 'because' of his appearance, or if he's summoned by the era's end.
- Once in battle with a Campione, the King of the End is unable to withdraw.
- The goddess Circe has stated that the King of the End is connected to the lineage of the Argo. (This is because both heroes are archetypes of the "traveling hero / invading hero" who goes to foreign lands to eliminate the enemy or loot treasure.)
- The goddess Artio mentioned that by absorbing the life of a goddess, the King of the End can elevate himself as a sword god to become the strongest blade. How strong he becomes is currently unknown.
- In an oracle about the King of the End, Ruska said "That war god will further increase in power in his journey of incessant wandering. A hero who persists in the journey of Devil King extermination"
- It is unknown how the King's ability to make other gods of Steel subservient to him affects their power levels.
- However, comments indicate that they may have become subordinate gods to the King of the End.
- His travels to exterminate Campione inspired Arthurian legends, the voyages of the Argonauts, the Odyssey, and the tale of Momotarō, among others.
- Ironically, unlike other gods, the power of Rama does not come from his authorities but from his enormous amount of energy and the great amount of divine weapons that he has from his payroll.
